3 Books that Changed My Perspective on Life

Beth and I love to read. I am usually drawn to non-fiction books on life, habits, coaching, etc. If I read a novel, I am a big fan of coming-of-age tales. Here are 3 books that completely changed my mindset, and made me look at life much differently.

  1. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

The Power of Now really allowed me to find my focus in the present moment. I have read the book at least 3 times. Every time I read it, I find another nugget of wisdom that I can apply in my life immediately. The book is extremely readable and you will find actionable steps to take right away. I highly recommend this book if you constantly find yourself thinking of the past or worried about the future.

     2. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

The Four Agreements is another easy read with a ton of wisdom. If you remind yourself daily of the four agreements, you will live a much more peaceful life. Don Miguel Ruiz’s ability to make life-changing principles seem so easy, I am surprised this book is not talked about more. Although the four agreements detailed in the book are simple, you will find that so many people do not operate within the agreements. If everyone was able to know about the agreements and apply them right now, the world would be a more peaceful place.

   3. Pistol: The Life of Pete Maravich by Mark Kriegel

This is a brilliant story of Pete Maravich’s life from his family’s early days in Beaver County, PA up to his sudden death. The story of how Pete had so much talent but struggled with inner demons really hit home for me personally. His ability to overcome those demons and make a positive impact in his community through faith is so inspiring as well. When I hear about Pistol Pete I always think about one of the greatest basketball players of all time. I never thought that he would have any struggles in his life. But just like all of us, you never know what someone is dealing with. It’s truly a coming-of-age story that many of us can relate to.

So I am curious. What books have changed your perspective on life? I’d love to hear your recommendations.
